History of IHE
1921: The Faculty of Education was established.
1953: The Teaching and Research Section of Pedagogy was set up.
1978: The Section for Higher Education Issues Research was founded.
1981: Enrollment of master's students in Higher Education.
1984: The Institute of Higher Education Science was established.
1986: Enrollment of doctoral students in Higher Education.
1988: Higher Education was approved as a national key discipline.
2000: Authorized to offer Master's degrees in Educational Economy and Management; approved the Center for Higher Education Development Research of Xiamen University, MOE, China.
2003: Acquired the post-doctoral research station in Education.
2004: The Institute of Education was founded.
2005: Authorized to offer Master's degrees in the discipline of Developmental and Educational Psychology.
2006: Authorized to offer Master's degrees in the first level discipline of Education; authorized to offer Doctoral degrees in Educational History and Educational Economy and Management.
2009: Authorized to offer “Doctor of Education"(Ed.D.).
2010: Authorized to offer Doctoral degrees in the first level discipline of Education.
2018: Established the Master's degree program in Educational Psychology.
2019: Established the degree program for Master and Doctoral degrees.
2021: Approved as the First-Class Disciplines construction unit by MOE, China.
2023: The Fujian Institute of Higher Education was established.
