The Chinese Model of Popularization of Higher Education and Its Promotion Strategy

Abstract:In the process of leapfrog development, China's higher education has formed a three-force co-promotion model, which is led by the government, boosted by the market and responded by the colleges and universities. Economic power and political power are the direct incentives and decisive factors for the popularization of higher education in China; colleges and universities have built the foundation. In order to promote higher education popularization to the middle and senior stage, it is urgent to advance the regional balanced development, expand the source of students, meet the challenges of artificial intelligence, and optimize the hierarchical structure. Therefore, it is necessary to explore the talent cultivation mode suitable with the middle and senior stage of the popularization, establish and improve the mechanism to promote the balanced and coordinated development, gradually raise the focus of higher education, and open up new space with digitalization.
