Wei Bao is Professor at the Institute of Education, Xiamen University, and the Director of the Center for Higher Education Development Research, the Key Research Base for Humanities and Social Sciences designated by the Ministry of Education. She previously held faculty positions at the School of Education, Peking University (2005-2023), where she served as Deputy Chair for Educational Economics and Administration Program and as Chair of Educational Policy and Management Program. She has also been a visiting fellow at the Research Center for Management and Policy, University of Tokyo, and at the Center for National University Finance and Management in Japan, as well as a Visiting Scholar at the Center for the Study of Higher Education, Pennsylvania State University, USA. Dr. Bao actively contributes to academic and policy communities, serving as a member of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Society for Educational Development Strategy, an executive director of the Higher Education Management Branch of the Chinese Society of Higher Education, and a member of the Expert Committee of the Capital Education High-Quality Development Policy Advisory Committee, among other academic and advisory positions.
