Personal Profile

Qin Hongxia, female, Ph.D., is a Professor and Deputy Dean at the Institute of Education, Xiamen University, and a visiting scholar at Boston College, USA. She has long been committed to academic research and talent cultivation in the field of higher education, focusing on Theory and History of Higher Education, Higher Education Policy and Law, and Examination Research, and has formed a distinctive research system in higher education governance and examination system reform.

Research Projects

In terms of scientific research, she has presided over 19 provincial, municipal, and thematic research projects, covering multiple dimensions of higher education development. These include the thematic case project “Education Empowers Rural Revitalization and Contributes to Beautiful China”, the Fujian Province Undergraduate Thesis Quality Assessment Report (2022-2024), and projects related to college entrance examination reform like “Feasibility Study on the Preliminary Plan for Comprehensive College Entrance Examination Reform in Jiangsu Province (4)” and “Research on the Countermeasures of Xiamen High Schools in Response to the New College Entrance Examination Reform”. Her research outcomes focus on educational equity, quality improvement, and system innovation, providing important references for the formulation of regional higher education policies and the advancement of educational reform practices.


Academic Papers

She has an extensive record of academic publications, with 89 papers published in high-level journals such as Educational Research, Journal of Higher Education, and Comparative Education Review, covering diverse fields such as new college entrance examination reform, online education, graduate education, and higher education governance. Notable contributions include her 2024 paper “The New College Entrance Examination Reform and Access to Quality Higher Education Opportunities” in Educational Research, which explores equity in higher education access; her 2023 analysis “Are Online Teaching and Face-to-Face Teaching of Equal Quality?” in Comparative Education Review, which investigates online education quality through cross-national case studies.


Monographs and Book Chapters

She has achieved fruitful academic results in the realm of publications, with at least 9 works, including monographs like Research on the Rule of Law in College Admissions Examinations (Central China Normal University Press, 2023, 2022) and Research on Legal Issues of the College Entrance Examination (Zhejiang Education Publishing House, 2022), as well as edited books such as A History of Postgraduate Education Development at Xiamen University (1926–2021) (Xiamen University Press, 2022).


Awards and Honors

In terms of honors, she has won a number of provincial and municipal awards, including the 11th, 9th, 8th, and 7th Xiamen Outstanding Achievement Award in Social Sciences, and the 13th Fujian Outstanding Achievement Award in Social Sciences, for her solid research results, and her academic contributions have been widely recognized by the academic community.

As a Professor and Deputy Dean at the Institute of Education, Xiamen University, she undertakes the responsibilities of talent cultivation and discipline construction. She teaches the course Higher Education Policy and Regulations at Xiamen University, which is open to master’s and doctoral students.
