Personal Profile

Dr. Ruoling Zheng, the Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Institute of Education of Xiamen University, holds several key positions including Deputy Director of the Xiamen University Examination Research Center, Standing Council Member of the Higher Education Professional Committee of the China Association of Higher Education, Standing Council Member of the Educational Sociology Professional Committee of the Chinese Sociological Association, and Editorial Board Member of China Examinations. She has pursued academic visits totaling two years at several prestigious international institutions, including Columbia University, the University of Notre Dame, and Wake Forest University in the United States. She also served as the Chinese Dean at the Confucius Institute of the University of Southampton in the UK for four years.


Education

Dr. Zheng earned her Ph.D. from Xiamen University in 2006.

Achievements

To date, she has published seven academic books, including Study on the Relationship of Imperial Examination and College Entrance Examination to Society and 40 Years of Education Reform in China: Gaokao Reform, as well as over 200 academic papers. Among these, 70 are indexed in CSSCI journals, and 6 have been reprinted by Xinhua Wenzhai. She has presided over more than 10 major research projects, including a Key Projects of Philosophy and Social Sciences Research commissioned by the Ministry of Education titled "Research on Improvement Measures for the Comprehensive Reform Pilot of the Gaokao."

Awards & Honors

Dr. Zheng has received over 10 research awards at various levels, including the National Outstanding Achievement Award in Educational Science Research. She was also selected for the "Ministry of Education's Program for New Century Excellent Talents."
