WU Wei is currently the professor and doctor supervisor of Institute of Education, Xiamen University. Now she is the vice-director of the Center for Higher Education Development of Xiamen University, which is a Ministry of Education key research institute for humanities and social sciences. She is also the director of Section of Comparative and International Education of Institute of Education at Xiamen University and the director of the Center for International Higher Education of Institute of Education at Xiamen University. And she is an executive member of the China Comparative Education Society of the Chinese Society of Education and a member of Higher Education Professional Committee of the China Association of Higher Education.

She started her PhD study at the Institute of Education at Xiamen University in 2006 and then she joined the joint PhD-program between the Institute of Education at Xiamen University and ICLON-Graduate School of Teaching at Leiden University from 2007-2009.

She has been responsible for 8 national-level and provincial-level projects. And she has published over 90 papers in journals such as “Education Research” and “Higher Education Research”, among which more than 50 papers are published in CSSCI (Chinese Social Sciences Citation Index) journals. Her monograph A Comparative Study on the Beliefs of Research University Teachers in China and the Netherlands.

She was selected for the “Program for Distinguished Young Scientific Talents in Universities of Fujian Province” in 2015 and the “Program for New Century Excellent Talents in Universities of Fujian Province” in 2016. She was ranked as C-level talent in Xiamen City in 2022 and C-level talent in Fujian Province in 2023. Her monograph A Comparative Study on the Beliefs of Research University Teachers in China and the Netherlands won the Excellent Doctoral Dissertation Award of the China Association of Higher Education and the Third Prize of the 10th Social Sciences Outstanding Achievement Award of Fujian Province. The paper “A comparative study of the beliefs of teachers in research universities in China and the Netherlands” won the Third Prize of the 5th National Excellent Research Achievement Award in Education Science.
