Institute of Education is the first specialized research institution in China with higher education as the research object, the first master’s and doctoral degree authorization unit in higher education, the first national key discipline unit of higher education, and the only supporting unit of the key research base of humanities and social sciences of the Ministry of Education specializing in higher education. And since 2021,IHE was selected as the First-Class Disciplines construction unit by MOE, China.

1.Job Requirements
We are recruiting talents for the following disciplines, including Higher Education Pedagogy, History of Higher Education, Development and Governance of Higher Education, International and Comparative Higher Education, University Curriculum and Instruction Theory, and Higher Education Psychology.
1.1“Outstanding Young Talents Support Program”
Categories of Outstanding Young Talents : Category A Talents, Category B Talents
(1)Possess good ideological and political qualities, as well as good academic ethics and conduct; be in good physical and mental health; and be able to work full-time on campus.
(2)Hold a doctoral degree. Applicants for Category A in the humanities and social sciences should generally be no older than 45; those for Category B should generally be no older than 38.
(3)Category A applicants should, within the past five years, have been awarded a high-level young-talent grant or possess equivalent credentials.
(4)Category B applicants must satisfy the following:
a. Meet the discipline’s developmental needs, demonstrate outstanding innovation capability and growth potential, and rank among the top peers.
b. In principle, have at least two years of post-doctoral or research experience at a well-known university or research institution at home or abroad after earning the doctorate. Those who received their doctorate from this university must have at least two years of such experience at a well-known university or research institution other than this one.
(5) Applicants who meet the age requirement and reach the final review stage of the high-level young-talent selection in the current year may apply for Category B through the fast-track procedure.
1.2 Professor & Associate Professor
(1) Possess good ideological and political qualities, sound academic integrity, and good physical and mental health; must be able to work full-time on campus.
(2) In principle, hold a doctoral degree or the highest degree in the relevant discipline.
(3) For professor positions, applicants should be no older than 45 (born on or after 1 January 1980, as shown on the ID card); for associate-professor positions, no older than 40 (born on or after 1 January 1985).
(4) Fulfill all additional appointment requirements set by Xiamen University and the respective discipline for the rank sought. When these requirements specify a time frame for achievements (the past five years for professor applications, the past three years for other ranks), the counting period begins on 1 January 2020 for professor and 1 January 2022 for other ranks.
1.3 Assistant Professor
The university provides support for newly recruited assistant professors in categories A and B, based on a comprehensive evaluation of their achievements and academic potential.
(1)Possess strong political and ethical integrity, maintain a healthy physical and mental condition, and be able to work full-time on campus.
(2)In principle, they should hold a doctoral degree or the highest degree in their respective field.
(3)For recent doctoral graduates, the age should not exceed 32 years (born after January 1, 1993); for non-recent doctoral graduates, the age should not exceed 35 years (born after January 1, 1990).
(4)Achievement requirements: Category A assistant professors must have achieved at least one outstanding result in the past three years. Category B assistant professors must have achieved at least two high-level results in the past three years; or be recent doctoral graduates with a strong educational background and high development potential.
(5)Priority will be given to recent doctoral graduates or postdoctoral researchers from top universities at home and abroad, such as Oxford University, University College London, Stanford University, Harvard University, Vanderbilt University, and Columbia University, in related disciplines.
1.4 Postdoctoral Researcher
(1) Strong political and ethical integrity, sound physical and mental health.
(2) Ph.D. degree already obtained or to be obtained shortly, with the degree awarded no more than three years ago.
(3) Age normally not exceeding 35; exceptions may be granted in line with national policies.
(4) Demonstrated strong research potential and innovation capability, together with a deep passion for scientific inquiry.
2. Support Measures
2.1 Outstanding Young Talents Support Program(Category A talents)
Position: Full-time tenured professor (public-service establishment) and doctoral supervisor.
Compensation & allowances: Highly competitive salary and subsidies.
Housing: On-campus transitional apartment provided. In addition, eligible candidates may purchase a 90–120 m⟡ municipal talent apartment at 45 % of market price in accordance with Xiamen high-level-talent evaluation criteria and related guidelines.
Research funds: Allocated according to university policy.
Team support: Beyond guaranteed Ph.D. student quotas, the university provides five fully-funded post-doctoral positions (two years each) during the first contract period.
Children: High-quality education from kindergarten through junior high school; one opportunity to select a preferred public school during compulsory education.
Medical care: Full access to Xiamen municipal healthcare benefits.
2.2 Outstanding Young Talents Support Program(Category B talents)
Position: Tenured Associate Professor (public-service establishment) and doctoral supervisor.
Compensation & Allowances: Competitive salary and subsidies; additional living allowances apply if selected for provincial or municipal talent programs.
Housing: On-campus transitional apartment provided. Eligible candidates may purchase a 90–120 m⟡ municipal talent apartment at 45 % of market price under Xiamen high-level-talent policies.
Research Funds: Allocated according to university policy.
Children: High-quality education from kindergarten through junior high school; one opportunity to select a preferred public school during compulsory education for talents meeting Xiamen criteria.
2.3 Professor & Associate Professor
Salary and Subsidies: Competitive salary packages are offered, with settlement subsidies provided according to policy. If selected for relevant talent programs at the provincial or municipal level, additional living subsidies may be received according to policy.
Housing: Temporary housing within the university is provided. Additionally, based on the evaluation and recognition standards for high-level talents in Xiamen and relevant work notices, candidates may apply to purchase talent housing in Xiamen with an area of 90-120 square meters at 45% of the market price.
Research Funding: Support is provided from the university president’s fund and other sources.
Children’s Education: Quality education services are offered from kindergarten to junior high school. For talents who meet the relevant conditions in Xiamen, their children may choose a school once during the compulsory education stage.
2.4 Assistant Professor
Compensation & Living Allowances: A highly competitive salary package is offered.
Allowances: A housing and settlement subsidy is provided by the university. Those who meet provincial and municipal talent policies may also receive the Xiamen Newly-introduced Talent Living Allowance and the Fujian Provincial Category-C Talent Subsidy, among others.
Housing: On-campus transitional housing is supplied. In addition, eligible candidates may purchase a 90–120 m⟡ Xiamen municipal talent apartment at 45 % of market price in accordance with the Xiamen high-level talent evaluation criteria and relevant implementation notices.
Research Funding: Supported by the President’s Fund and other university resources.
Children: High-quality education from kindergarten through junior middle school. Talents who satisfy Xiamen’s relevant requirements may choose any public school once for their children during the compulsory-education period.
2.5 Postdoctoral Researcher
Compensation: Competitive university salary, social insurance and housing fund; eligible for additional national, provincial and municipal grants or talent subsidies.
Housing: On-campus post-doc apartment (next to kindergarten, supermarket, etc.) or rental allowance.
Children: High-quality education from kindergarten through junior high.
International: Funding for overseas academic visits and collaborative research.
Career: Apply early for faculty positions and talent programs during the fellowship.
Other: Annual medical check-up and labor-union benefits equal to faculty.
