Xiamen University was founded in 1921 by the renowned patriotic overseas Chinese leader Mr. Tan Kah Kee. It is the first university in modern Chinese history to be established by an overseas Chinese and is a key university under the national “211 Project” and “985 Project”. In 2017, it was selected into the list of Category A world-class universities announced by the country, and in 2022, it was selected into the second round of the “Double First-Class” initiative for universities and disciplines.

The Institute of Education at Xiamen University was founded in 1978 by the eminent Chinese educator Pan Maoyuan, the pioneer and founding father of higher-education studies in China. It is the country’s first research body devoted exclusively to higher education, the first to be authorized to grant master’s and doctoral degrees in the field, and the first to have its higher-education program designated a national key discipline. It also hosts the only Ministry-of-Education humanities and social-science key research base dedicated solely to higher-education studies. A powerhouse of scholarship in China, the institute has been selected to help build the nation’s first-class education discipline under the “Double First-Class” initiative.

I. Forum Schedule
Xiamen University will host the “Nanqiang Young Scholars Forum” in Xiamen from 24–27 December 2025, featuring one plenary session and a series of discipline-specific sub-forums.
24 Dec – Arrival & registration
25 Dec – Plenary forum & campus/site tours
26 Dec – Discipline sub-forums & one-on-one discussions
27 Dec – Discipline sub-forums, final exchanges & departure
II. Eligibility Requirements
1.Demonstrated high standards of political and ideological integrity, sound academic ethics, and robust physical and mental health;
2.Hold a Ph.D.; applicants should generally be under 45 years of age;
3.Exhibit outstanding innovation capacity and development potential, have already distinguished yourself within your academic field, and rank among the very best of your peer group.
III. Application Procedure
1. Please complete the online form—either by scanning the QR code below or clicking the registration link—no later than 3 November 2025.

2. After reviewing the applications, the University will send out formal invitation letters to selected scholars by email no later than 1 December 2025.
IV. Forum Support
The University will provide all domestic and overseas participants with meals and accommodation throughout the forum and will reimburse round-trip travel expenses according to its standard schedule (details will be sent together with the official invitation letter).
